Former Congressman Eric Swalwell, the disgraced California politician accused of rape, was confronted by FBI agents at San Francisco International Airport, where they seized his electronics as part of a federal criminal probe.
Agents served Swalwell with a search warrant Saturday after he arrived in California and seized his cellphone and other electronics, a source confirmed to The Post.
Agents also executed additional warrants at Swalwell’s Washington, DC, home Sunday, where they seized other potential evidence, the source said.
Swalwell, 45, was cooperative during the airport encounter.

The investigation comes as the former California congressman faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including claims from a former staffer who alleged that he raped her twice when she was too intoxicated to consent.
Following four women’s public accusations, Swalwell, who was a frontrunner at the time, ended his campaign for governor of California.
One woman has accused him of drugging her before sexually assaulting her in 2018.
Two other women alleged that he sent them unsolicited images of his genitals.
Swalwell announced his resignation from Congress on April 13 amid a looming House Ethics Committee investigation looking into misconduct and sexual assault involving an employee working under his supervision. He maintains his innocence.
The Department of Justice opened an investigation into the former congressman in April. The Post has reached out to the DOJ for comment.
At 45, Swalwell was also facing scrutiny from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The former congressman has largely stayed out of the spotlight since then, including Monday as newly declassified records were released detailing his past interactions with the Chinese spy known as “Fang Fang.”
The documents, released by the White House Transparency Task Force, show Swalwell told the FBI that he had “occasionally hooked up” with Fang.
The California Post has reached out to the FBI and Swalwell for comment.
Swalwell’s wife, Brittany Watts, has not made any public statements herself. However, sources close to the couple reported that she was completely blindsided by the allegations and his “double life,” felt deeply hurt, and is currently living separately from him.
She was spotted without her wedding band several times.
Before his career came to an end, his career spanned local law enforcement, city government, seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, and a brief 2020 presidential bid.
