President Donald Trump on Monday declared Iran “officially a Failed Nation,” saying the Islamic Republic is being propped up only by “FAKE NEWS” from the U.S. media as its military, economy, and leadership crumble.
“IRAN IS DEAD!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, pointing to what he described as the destruction of Tehran’s naval and air forces, the collapse of its currency, and soaring inflation.
“They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, they have no currency, they are not paying their soldiers or police, Inflation is at 300%, and their leadership is in total disarray and incapable of properly representing the country,” Trump wrote.
Trump also accused Tehran of killing more than 100,000 protesters and called for Iranian leaders to face prosecution for “war crimes against humanity.”
The president’s remarks come amid renewed military tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Iran on Monday launched ballistic missiles toward a U.S. military base in Jordan in retaliation for an American strike on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz. Jordanian officials said eight Iranian missiles were intercepted, while a U.S. official said there were no strikes on American bases and no reported casualties or damage.
U.S. Central Command said the Larak operation targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces preparing to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting Tehran’s accusation that the strike was an “act of aggression.”
CENTCOM said American forces took “limited, precise action” to eliminate an imminent threat to commercial shipping.
Trump has repeatedly portrayed Iran as severely weakened after months of conflict with the United States. Earlier this month, he said Iran had “no Navy” or “Air Force” and that the IRGC had been “decimated,” while touting U.S. control of the Strait of Hormuz.
The administration also has intensified its economic campaign against Tehran.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent last week unveiled “Operation Economic Outcast,” a sanctions drive aimed at severing Iran’s remaining sources of revenue and warning foreign governments and businesses against providing Tehran an economic lifeline.
